Dominicans celebrated Fathers Day in family
SD. Four different families: Mendez Medina, Medrano, Hernandez and Tejeda met yesterday around the tomb of their patriarch, Placido Mendez Medrano, a combatant during the 1965 Revolution. Like them, Dominican men and women celebrated and commemorated the feast of Father's Day.

The cemeteries of Maximo Gomez, Cristo Redentor and Cristo Rey in the National District received thousands of mourners who visited the tombs of fathers and grandfathers.

In the meantime, the businesses on Gregorio Luperon Avenue, Duarte Avenue and the kiosks of Paris and Jose Marti avenues took care of an ever-increasing group of clients that had left their purchases for the last minute.

An in the same way, on Saturday the stores that serve the middle class and the poor were full of persons that were buying presents for their fathers.

Santiago

For the commercial sector, the celebration of Father's Day went by "unnoticed" in the city of Santiago. The businesses and stores worked normally without any increase in sales.

This was what was reported by Carlos Lora, the president of the Association of Stores of the Historical Center. "Here Father's Day is going by like any other day, the middle class and the poor people are going to celebrate this day with something in the home, with a dinner or a luncheon which is the nicest thing."
