Classes are suspended in the schools

The Minister of Education, Josefina Pimentel, order the suspension of classes in the schools, starting at noon yesterday (Thursday) and today, Friday. In addition she reported that she has issued orders to all the education regional offices to take the necessary measures to store and protect the equipment and furniture from the damage that could be caused by winds and rains. As part of these measures she ordered the cleanup of the roofs, the trimming of trees and the drainage of places where water could accumulate. She recalled the fact that the schools are available to be used as shelters for persons displaced by the storm, but that these are a last alternative and are to be used on the condition that the people return as fast and as safe as possible to their homes.
