The CAASE foresees improvement in water distribution
SD. The Santo Domingo Water and Sewer Corporation (CAASD) announced yesterday an improvement in the production of drinking water starting with the rains that fell at the headwaters of the Isa, Duey and Haina rivers. This permitted the CAASD to add 47 million gallons to the distribution starting today in the National District and some sectors of West Santo Domingo.

Alejandro Montas, the CAASD director, said that the production went up yesterday from 303 million gallons to 350 million gallons a day, "which means a great relief for the water department and all of the residents of the National District and the province of Santo Domingo."

The official pointed out that the Haina-Manoguayabo aqueduct system, which from the beginning of the current dry spell did not produce more than 22 million gallons a day and at the present time is producing 55 million gallons per day, while the Isa and Duey are beginning to recover.
