More deaths this Holy Week than last year

SD. In comparison to 2013, the number of fatalities up to Easter Sunday increased this year during the Holy Week from 21 to 25, while the injured increased from 447 to 741.

In their report of Sunday 31 March of last year, the Center of Emergency Operations (COE) reported that of the number of fatalities, 19 perished in traffic accidents and two by drowning.

In the meantime, yesterday the COE reported that there were 24 traffic deaths, five more than in 2013 for the same cause and just one by drowning.

Regarding persons injured, the assistance agency registered in 2013, some 447 injured, with 319 involved in traffic accidents, 100 for alcoholic intoxication and 26 with food poisoning.

This year the number of injured for the same reasons climbed to 714, some 294 more than in 2013, when there were 447. At the same time, during the Holy Week vacation in 2013, there were 116 motorcycles involved in accidents and in 2014 this increased to 195.
