Juan de los Santos asks Danilo Medina not to listen to re-electionists

SANTO DOMINGO. The Mayor of East Santo Domingo, Juan de los Santos, called on President Danilo Medina to concentrate fully on what remains of his term of office without letting himself be distracted by a project for his reelection.

The president of the Dominican Federation of Municipalities (Fedomu) said that Medina should continue working on his initiatives which until now have been positive, achieving a good evaluation and the confidence of the people.

"It is an administration that the citizens see as being close to the people and therefore he should not be distracted at this time in thinking about a project for his reelection, but rather that at his proper time as he has said, he will issue an opinion regarding this," he said.

De los Santos stressed that "he should continue concentrating on his management and on his administration, which until now has been very positive, the people have appreciated him and he has inspired confidence."

For his part Roberto Rodriguez Marchena, the director general of Communication for the President and government spokesman, said that the population has shown its support for the public policies that have favored them.

"There is a before and an after regarding Danilo Medina. The politicians should learn and govern closer to the people," he emphasized.

He said that "the commitment is to continue winning the affection of the people, to continue working with the same impetus so that the next years are even better. This is the President's mandate.
