Director General of Prisons to contract private security

This is to guarantee that the inmates appear at their court dates

LA VICTORIA, NSD. The Director General of Prisons announced yesterday in La Victoria that they are thinking of contracting private security agencies for the transfer of inmates to the courts.

He said that there are occasions in which they have up to 190 requests for inmates that have court dates and that because of the lack of transportation and custodial personnel that can take them and watch them they are not able to transfer them to their trials.

He told reporters that they are taking important steps so that this is solved and that in a question of two weeks the Attorney General of the Republic and the Supreme Court of Justice will sign an agreement to deal with these problems.

"We are working with a private security agency, so that, if it were necessary, they can insert security personnel in order to be efficient with this service, which is an obligation of Prisons to send each inmate to the hearings," said Holguin de la Paz.

The Director of Prisons headed the beginning of an integrated health program at the public jail in La Victoria.
