Abel Martinez asked deputies not to enter chamber with firearms

They seek that their positions are not degraded and that they respect the solemnity

SD. The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Abel Martinez, gave instructions to the Security Department and other areas to not allow deputies and visitors to enter the chamber with firearms.

He also said that this was to avoid unauthorized persons from entering the headquarters of the National Congress. "As is established by the regulations no fellow deputy can enter with firearms. No deputy, nobody can, not even security, can enter here in the chamber with firearms," expressed Martinez during an ordinary session of the Chamber of Deputies.

He said that each block of deputies should designate the persons that will enter the chamber in order to avoid situations that get out of hand. He revealed that they have received complaints from deputies because citizens go to their desks to ask for something and, "thank God" nothing out of the normal has occurred.

He recognized that the use of the dining hall as escaped from the hands of security. "It is not a restaurant for family and friends," and he said that even in the hotel where deputies from the provinces spend the night he has received complaints and the hotel expressed fear that they will rescind the contract.

In this sense, Deputy Eugenio Cedeño, complained that the elevators and bathrooms that they use are invaded by other persons. At the same time Marino Collante asked his colleagues not to degrade their positions and he criticized the fact that some leave the dining hall with lunch buckets in their hands
