Raul Mondesi accuses San Cristobal senator of persecution
SANTO DOMINGO. After being questioned for more than three hours at the Specialized Prosecutor for Persecution of Administrative Corruption (PEPCA) the Mayor of the municipality of San Cristobal, Raul Mondesi, accused the senator from that province, Tommy Galan, to binge behind the accusations, which he calls a political persecution.

"You all know that this is a political affair, directly from Tommy Galan, he knows it."

Mondesi said that the legislator of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) knows that he will face him for the candidacy for the Senate of this party going into the 2016 elections.

"Already although the processes that he has brought about have failed; the first was in the City Hall, then the march they did with 200 people and now this procedure."

The former Major League baseball player said that the truth will shed light on his case.

He commented that if the Chamber of Accounts says that there are irregularities for more than RD $70 million in the city government and he says the contrary, "you would suppose that if this is true I would be arrested and be in jail right now."

He said that in the city government "everything is in order." "You're going to realize this; don't worry about it," he said when asked questions by the reporters.

He proclaimed that he would be the next Senator for San Cristobal for the PLD where he is backing the presidential aspirations of Francisco Javier Garcia and the former President Leonel Fernandez.

"What is happening is that there cannot be two senators in the province."

He noted that everything has come about after he announced that he would launch his candidacy for the Senate seat for the Purple Party.

"I want the province and the city to know that this is politics, that he who has done nothing, cannot be suspected."

He called on the Senator from San Cristobal to explain to the country where he supposedly spent more than RD $100 million to acquire a mansion that he has in Duvo. He said he can show everything that he has because he acquired it before becoming a politician. "Now I want him to present this."
