ADP approves negotiation of 12% salary increase

The National Plenary of Leaders Professor Esmeraldino Fernandez of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) approved the proposal by the Ministry of Education and at the same time gave full powers to the National Executive Committee in order to continue the negotiations with relation to the salary demand beyond 12%, in a meeting that will take place with the educational authorities next Tuesday 25 November.

The National Executive Committee of the ADP had previously left in the hands of the National Plenary of Leaders the decision regarding the proposal by the Minister of Education, Carlos Amarante Baret in relation to the proposal which includes the recovery of the ARS - SEMMA, the special contribution in order to provide an improvement of the health service to retired and pensioned teachers, and the participation of the nation's teachers in housing projects which are being built by the government.

With the positive vote of 130 members of a quorum of 156 present of the total membership of 178 educators who make up the maximum organ of teacher representation.

They also decided to recognize the representatives of the commission on Teacher Dignity in the Minerd composed of: Victor Garcia, Maria Teresa Cabrera, Abel Gonzalez, Primitiva Medina and Franco de Los Santos. They issued a call for unity among all of the nation's teachers.
