Charred bodies of youngsters killed in an accident are buried
SANTO DOMINGO. An aunt of Juan Abel Suero Paulino (Jayson), one of the 5 young persons who in nearly hours yesterday morning died of burns at Kilometer 17 of the Las Americas Highway when their station wagon slid and smashed into a coconut tree while they were going to Boca Chica, had counseled him not to drink alcoholic beverages, but he didn't pay any attention and after spending several hours drinking with some friends, was killed in the fatal accident.

"I have to drink a bottle today because I'm in pain," the young man, 22, had told his aunt Carmen Maria Pereyra Suero, in answer to her counsel that he not go out, because he had some boils in his armpits.

"I told him not to go out, to stay with me at home and he left. From right outside there they went to the beach, at 5 in the morning," said the lady, regretting that her nephew did not pay her any attention.

The woman tells how Juan Abel was an air conditioning technician, and had no children. He is survived by 3 brothers, his father who is a deaf-mute and whose mother died several years ago.

In the alleyway located on 39th St., #67, of the Cristo Rey sector of Santo Domingo, neighbors and relatives cried over the loss of Juan Abel and his 4 companions, who yesterday were buried in the Cristo Ray Cemetery, without a wake, because of the charred condition of their bodies.

After the burial, a group of young persons, some of whom had partied with Jayson before his tragic death, recalled him drinking beers accompanied by loud music while sitting in a vehicle. Among the songs that were repeated were "Nobody is eternal," by Tito Rojas and others of the so-called "dembo" variety.

The AMET report

According to the report by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (AMET), besides Suero Paulino, of the victims, 3 women and 2 men, they had only identified as of yesterday at noon Samantha Jimenez, 21.

In the meantime, the only survivor is young Jonas Alejandro Paulino Frias, 22, who was receiving medical attention at the Burn Unit at the Luis Eduardo Aybar Hospital. The other identities are pending verification by the authorities of the National Institute of Forensic Pathology, where the bodies were taken for the corresponding autopsies.

This newspaper could not verify to the families of the remaining victims; but it was reported that they lived on Higüey Street and on Lope de Vega.
