There is a suggestion that the Political Committee of the PLD controls the campaign
The aspiring candidates accelerate their campaigns and are waiting for an electoral calendar

SANTO DOMINGO. The Central Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) is the agency that will elect the presidential hopefuls of this organization and the date for the election of the candidate, as well as the organizing commission of the internal nomination process.
But this will come about after the convocation of the Political Committee, which is going on 5 months without meeting.
Yesterday, the member of the Political Committee, Jaime David Fernandez Mirabal, argued for this agency to lay out a plan in order that "passions do not overflow."
Aspiring presidential hopefuls Reinaldo Pared Perez, Radhames Segura, Francisco Javier and Temistocles Montas have renewed their proselytizing efforts and are waiting for the flag to be dropped by the PLD agencies in order to have a critical path calendar in their hands.
Former President Leonel Fernandez has not formally thrown in his hat, but the signals that he is going to are abundant, especially after the inauguration of his new political office in the Gascue sector.
This is also true after the launch of his External Sector, coordinated by Luis Toral, and a pep talk where he said that from that office they would go "to the Palace."
Traditionally, the issue of the nomination process takes place between March and June of the year before the elections and the presidential candidate and those for the other congressional and municipal positions are elected in June of this year.
"Now the meeting of the Political Committee of the PLD cannot be delayed much longer, because we have to debate issues," emphasized Fernandez Mirabal.
The Central Committee, some 635 members, now has a special hall for meetings at the National House of the PLD, which was inaugurated last December.
It will be recalled that in order to be chosen as a presidential hopeful, those that are nominated will have to obtain the favorable votes of two thirds of the members of the Central Committee which are present at the meeting.
It is up to the Central Committee to set the date for the nomination election to choose the presidential candidate, as well as choose the organizing commission for these elections, which should be chaired by a member of the Political Committee.

The more than 4000 positions for city council members, directors of municipal districts, mayors, Senators and deputies have caused a flood of hopefuls by the followers of President Danilo Medina, the former President Leonel Fernandez and the other presidential hopefuls. There are several government and legislative officials who aspire to the different positions, among them the Minister of Industry and Commerce, José Del Castillo Saviñon, who wants to be the Senator from Barahona, and Olgo Fernandez, the director of INDRHI who wants to be the Senator for Dajabon.
