SD. The Dominican Republic signed an agreement of reciprocity with the United States in order to expand the cooperation with the military personnel of that nation that are temporarily present in the country, in the framework of training, military exercises, operations of humanitarian assistance and other activities of mutual agreement.

The agreement was signed yesterday by the Minister of Foreign Relations, Andres Navarro and the ambassador of the United States, James W. Brewster, with the presence of the Minister of Defense Lieutenant general William Muñoz Delgado and the commander of the Southern Command of the United States, General John Kelly.

Navarro explained that by means of this convention, the Dominican Republic would provide to the United States personnel and their contractors who are temporarily in the country, facilities in connection with visits, training, exercises and other activities that are mutually agreed-upon. The agreement covers all of the personnel of the United States temporarily present in the country, according to a note from the Chancellery.
