The CAASD reports water supplies back to normal in Santo Domingo
SD. The Water and Sewer Corporation of Santo Domingo (CAASD) announced yesterday the end of the repairs to a breakdown in the Valdesia system, for which water supplies had been suspended in sectors of the province of Santo Domingo and the National District since last Thursday.

The deputy director of operations of the CA ASD, Luis Salcedo, reported that the work located on Bethania Street, at the corner of 8th Street in front of the Ana Ivelise I building of the San Benito sector, of West Santo Domingo, was finishing the refilling stage and that of "complying with the residents of the area that we were going to leave everything better than we found it," said Salcedo.

The technician described the repairs as being "of a great magnitude", due to the fact that it left 120 sectors of the city without water service. The work consisted of changing a 12 inch steel pipe, which drains a low point in the 67 inch pipe of the Valdesia system.

"We haven't had problems, and this permitted us to have finished this repair 36 hours before the program timetable. We are now putting water into the 2 pipes from Valdesia. Valdesia is working at full capacity and normality," revealed the engineer.
