Peralta: "There is plenty of time" for reelection of President
Cristina Lizardo says reelection is an issue for the Political Committee of the PLD

SANTO DOMINGO. The Administrative Minister of the Presidency, and close collaborator of President Danilo Medina, José Ramon Peralta, assured reporters yesterday that "there is plenty of time" for a possible re - nomination bid by the President.
Interviewed at the Presidential Palace, the official said that the issue of reelection has once again been put on display, above all by the Dominican people, and he insisted that whatever they want to do, can be done in the time remaining before the 2016 elections.
He stressed that the people have stated by a wide majority, in different activities and spontaneously, that they want President Medina to continue in office. "It is also the same thing in the surveys that we have seen. Also, with him, the party in power wins; he is the only one that would go through the first round, and this is also good for the party, so that we will see, we have to wait," he said.
The official said that they have to wait for the President to decide, and he assured the journalists that the time will come for him, or the people and the party should take the decision regarding this. He said that he has not talked with the Chief of State on this issue.
Peralta said that the country wants the President to be reelected, because he is a popular President, close to the people, plain and humble. When he was asked what the President thinks about the issue, he said: "he laughs when he sees this, but it is not from satisfaction, because when the people say this, they are evaluating his work, and this is comforting," he said.
The so-called movements such as "Popular Acclamation and National Decision", "Advance", the" More Citizens Foundation", the "Foundation of Municipal Development", "Danilo Four More Years", among other entities, have issued invitations to a "Patriotic Parade," at 10:00 a.m., in front of the National Congress, in order to request the modification of the Constitution, and that reelection be permitted.
The CP should decide
The president of the Senate, Cristina Lizardo, said that she felt that the issue of presidential reelection is of great importance, and this is the time in which it should be studied by the Political Committee (CP) of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD).
Likewise, she said that they should look at the opinions of President Danilo Medina and the former President Leonel Fernandez, in their capacity as the two great leaders of the PLD. "I expect this to happen and we have to wait and see the circumstances that come about."
In the meantime, José Ramon Fadul, a member of the Political Committee of the government party, said that in the next few days the committee would be convened in order to deal with issues of the current scene, without implying that there is any internal conflict. "I should remind you that the PLD is a party that does not have internal difficulties."
Fadul, who is also the Minister of Interior and Police, made it clear that the expressions of presidential aspirations existing in the PLD is something normal that exists in all the organizations that are ruled by democracy.
