Dominican employers worry about few people seeking normalization

SANTO DOMINGO. The Management Confederation of the Dominican Republic (COPARDOM) is worried over the small number of cases submitted to the Dominican authorities by illegal foreigners who are seeking acceptance by the National Plan of Normalization.

By means of a press communiqué, the management sector indicates that, in spite of the efforts of the Dominican government, the slowness shown by the of official Haitian institutions in issuing documents which serve as a support in order to identify the foreigners who want to normalize their immigration status is worrisome.

They feel that this constitutes a stumbling block in the complete achievement of the aims and objectives of the Normalization Plan adopted by the Dominican government.

COPARDOM called on the Haitian authorities to facilitate and speed up the documentation of their nationals. They said that they are promoting responsibility of the companies in regard to their workers so that they can cooperate with this plan.
