Depositors of Banco Peravia can withdraw funds
SD. The Superintendency of Banks reported yesterday the clients of the Banco Peravia with deposits of less than RD$500,000 can withdraw the funds from their accounts at any branch of BanReservas.

In a press conference, the Superintendent, Luis Armando Asunción, explained that the measure will benefit 6721 clients of the intervened bank, but they should present personal identification and the original copy of the Validation of Deposit Form issued by the Superintendency of Banks in order to make the withdrawals. He assured reporters that this number of depositors represents 95.28% of the clients of the Banco Peravia. He said that the amount of deposits to be returned, available since last Thursday, is some RD$45 million.

He indicated that there were 320 depositors pending, with accountss greater than RD$500,000, and who should wait for the end of the process of sifting through the assets of the closed banking entity, according to what is established by the regulations of dissolution, and which will be announced "as soon as we are ready."

With regard to the judicial process, he reiterated that the report on the situation of the Banco Peravia was deposited in the office of the District Attorney of the National District and that it is now up to the prosecutors to continue the investigation process. He recalls that the executives of this banking entity have been accused of the crimes of fraud and abuse of confidence, falsifying material and intellectual property and criminal association among other charges.
