Recovery teams find the pilot of downed aircraft
SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) reported yesterday that the body of Arraldo Amaro Joa, the pilot of the Piper Pawnee aircraft, tail number HI 822, was located and recovered yesterday morning in a mountainous area near Duarte Peak in the Central Mountains.

In a press release by the IDAC, they indicated that around 5:00 p.m. yesterday, members of the Search and Rescue brigades at the service of the IDAC proceeded to carry the pilot's body back to the capital. "The body was belted in by the safety harnesses to his seat," the IDAC revealed.

The plane crash was located in the El Tetero Valley on Duarte Peak at some 6000 feet.

The aircraft took off from Azua last Monday at 10:30 a.m. en route to Mao, Valverde, without reaching its destination. It was reported that the Aviation Accident Investigating Commission (CIAA) will investigate the causes of the accident.
