SANTO DOMINGO. Alberto Sanchez, a promoter of small hydroelectric projects in distant communities of our country and Gianni Paulino the president of the Wrinkled Hands Foundation (Manos Arrugadas) which helps the elderly have a better life, were chosen by the jury for the prize as the Man and the Woman of the Year 2014.

During 2014, Sanchez accompanied more than 25 communities in the installation and start of 10 micro hydroelectric generators that have capacities of between 10 kW and 150 kW. In addition he assisted other communities in the process of installing 15 new micro generators.

Paulino is known for her continuous work in favor of the elderly. She is building a nursing home, developing campaigns of awareness and lobbies for the approval of laws in favor of the elderly. The campaign "I am old, so what?" And the guidebook "Hello Old Age", contribute to the removal of vulnerability among the elderly.

The award ceremony and the recognition of the finalists will take place on Thursday during a gala dinner at the El Embajador Hotel, at 8 o'clock at night.
