Medina appoints Pedro Luis Castellanos in Sisalril

Lidio Cadet was appointed in the Special Programs of the Presidency

SANTO DOMINGO. President Danilo Medina appointed yesterday Pedro Luis Castillanos as the new Superintendent of Health and Labor Risks (Sisalril), in substitution of Fernando Caamaño.

By means of Decree Num. 78 - 15, article 1, the Chief of State appointed Lidio Cadet as the director general of Special Programs of the Presidency, the position occupied by Pedro Luis Castellanos.

Caamaño held his position for eight years and three months, because he had been reelected. Law 87 - 01 establishes that each Superintendent will be chosen for a period of four years. He should have been substituted in December of last year.

Pedro Luis Castillanos, was the promoter of the programs "Quisqueya Aprende Contigo" and "Quisqueya Inicie Contigo," the first which seeks to eliminate illiteracy in the country and the second which works with children from birth to 5 years of age.

Lidio Cadet was the Secretary-General of the Dominican Liberation Party and deputy. He resigned from the Political Committee in 2006 because of disagreements, when he was chosen president of the Chamber of Deputies during that period.

He has not occupied any post in the government headed by President Danilo Medina.

Pedro Luis Castellanos studied medicine, and has master's degrees in Public Health and Epidemiology.

In addition, he has been a consultant to the Pan-American Health Organization and the World Health Organization. For years, he was a university professor. He is also a member of the Health and Social Security Commission of the Citizens' Forum.
