Meeting of PLD Political Committee will be in Juan Dolio to avoid pressures
SANTO DOMINGO. The Secretary-General of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Reinaldo Pared Perez, announced yesterday that the meeting to be held by the party's Political Committee next Sunday will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Metro Marina, in Juan Dolio in order to avoid pressures.

"From the start they wanted to be in a more isolated place, in order to have more relaxation, more time, and not have any type of pressure," reported Pared Perez as he offered details of the meeting.

It will be recalled that in the previous meeting of the Political Committee, held at the Presidential House of the PLD, there were demonstrations by dozens of followers of the former President Leonel Fernandez, on one side and the advocates of the reelection of President Danilo Medina on the other side.

Pared Perez reiterated that during the activity they would deal with the issue of reelection which, in case it might go to a vote, will be decided by more than half of the members present that day.

Nevertheless, the Senator and aspiring candidate for the PLD, hopes for an interim agreement on this issue, and insist on the necessity of a meeting between Medina and Fernandez previous to Sunday's meeting in order that it is not necessary to impose decisions.

"The ideal situation is that they can converse before hand in order for them to feel out different alternatives they could be suggested in the CP. This would facilitate things in great measure, and it is the tradition which we have experienced in the CP of the PLD. Normally, in this type of situation they do not seek to impose any decisions, but rather reach an interim point, which would be the result of an agreement and a coming together, and this time should be no different," he pointed out to reporters.

Any previous agreement is subject to the return of Fernandez who is currently in Miami, and he will return either today or tomorrow, according to what Pared Perez reported.

The legislator made it clear that he is firm in his presidential aspirations, but yesterday he decided to suspend all of his proselytizing activities in order to dedicate himself to his role as Secretary general, and organize the meeting. He will retake his own agenda next week.

Behind closed doors

the Secretary-General of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD, Reinaldo Pared Perez, explained yesterday that the meeting of the Political Committee set for Sunday will be held behind closed doors, but the representatives of the media will be told of the issues dealt with and the conclusions that are adopted. He let it be known that an area will be prepared for the generalist assigned by the directors of their respective media to cover the meeting, as well as facilities for the location of the mobile TV vans.
