Judge sends 11 drivers accused of kidnapping 50 students in Boca Chica to La Victoria

SANTO DOMINGO. The judge for Permanent Attention for the province of Santo Domingo, Danilo Amador Quevedo, ordered preventive custody in the jail at La Victoria for 11 of the 12 drivers accused of kidnapping and attempting to burn a bus which carried 50 students on board, keeping them from arriving at the Book Fair and abandoning the vehicle in Andres, Boca Chica.

The coercive measure of three months of preventive custody was issued against Eduardo Salvador Fersola Güilamo, Francisco Tejeda Marte, Josué Castillo Santana, Félix Manuel Merán García, Luis Pineda Castillo, Daniel Bautista Espinal, Franklin de León, Rafael Poleón Féliz, Alfredo Sención Rosado, Juan Carlos Javier Aquino and Luis Rafael Castillo Luis.

In the case of defendant Num. 12, Yoryi Luisa, the magistrate ordered a hearing for the petition of preventive custody against him at another hearing, because he presented health problems and had to be absent from the hearing.

The defense lawyers, Ingrid Hidalgo and Valentin Medrano requested the immediate release because they said that there was no evidence which tied them to the act of vandalism.

At the same time prosecutor Marco Rosario Gonzalez based his petition on a series of arguments, among them the fact that on 28 April, the San Jose Episcopal school program an educational trip with 50 students, all minors, from different classes, to go to the Book Fair.
