SCJ hears today the appeal in the Felix Bautista case

SD. The Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice will hear today, at 9:00 a.m., the arguments of the appeal filed by the Attorney General of the Republic, Francisco Dominguez Brito, against the decision of No Grounds (No Ha Lugar) in favor of Senator Felix Bautista and another six defendants on charges of corruption and money laundering against the Dominican State.

Judges Miriam German Brito, presiding, Frank Soto Sanchez and Esther Angelan Casasnovas convened the legislator, the other defendants and the Attorney General or the purpose of explaining the case file, and deciiding if they will ratify or revoke the decision by the judge of Special Instruction of the Supreme Court, Alejandro Moscoso Segarra.

Dominguez Brito said yesterday that he trusted that the judges of the SCJ will revoke the decree of No Grounds which was issued in favor of the former director of the Office of Supervising Engineers of State Projects (OISOE), Felix Bautista, as well as favoring Bolivar Antonio Ventura Rodriguez, Carlos Manuel Ozoria Martínez, Soraida Antonia Abreu Martínez, José Elías Hernández García, Gricel Araceli Soler Pimentel and Bienvenido Apolinar Bretón Medina.

"A very extensive appeal has been filed, with serious and important judicial arguments, of great importance not only for this case especially, but also for all the work involved in the prosecution of corruption and money laundering in a general manner," he said.
