In the Dominican Republic 13% of minors have some kind of job
The Millennium Development Objectives order the eradication of child labor this year 2015

SANTO DOMINGO. In the Dominican Republic 13% of children less than 17 years old have some type of work, whether farm, domestic or other work, according to the results of the Multiple Purpose National Survey of Homes - M ICS 2014, published by the National Statistics Office (ONE).
According to the results, in the urban areas this represents 12% child the population and in the rural areas 16% of this vulnerable population.
Broken down by sex, the survey shows that 17% of the boys in this age group work, and 9% of the girls.
The survey was carried out with technical and financial support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), which promotes a worldwide program called "Multiple Indicators by Conglomerates Survey (M ICS)", which the country is using to its advantage.
As a signatory of the Millennium Development Objectives, the Dominican Republic should ensure that in 2015 any child should be capable of completing the primary cycle of schooling and that child labor is eradicated.
The largest percentage of children that participate in economic activities, during the last week of this survey, was between the ages of 15 and 17, with 27% in the urban areas and 31% in the rural areas.
In the age group of 12 to 14 years, 17% are working in the urban areas and 27% in the rural areas and for the children between five and 11 years of age, there are 8% working in the urban areas and 10% in the rural areas.
Regarding the aspect of school, the study shows that 27% of the children study and those that work and do not go to school represent 33%.
