Support of gay marriage brings funds to Obama
Washington. The campaign team of President Barack Obama collected a million dollars in just 90 minutes after his support for gay marriage went public over the social media "Buzzfeed."

This unheard-of harvest precedes the expected US$12.0 million that he expects to gather tonight at an exclusive dinner in actor George Clooney's mansion in Los Angeles, California with the elite of Hollywood. Also invited are many of those that favor gay rights and marriage.

Obama will take part in another fund raiser for the defenders of gays and on 6 June he will return to the City of Angels to assist at a pro-gay celebration.

From the left, the announcement of his support for marriage between persons of the same sex has been called brave, while from the religious right it is considered repulsive and pure "political opportunism."

A survey released today by the Public Institute for Research on Religion indicates that the virtual candidate for the Republican Party, Mitt Romney, who oppeses gay marriage, has a 50 point advantage among the white evangelicals against Obama and could be more once this receives the support of the current President.

Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council, said that Obama "has made the issue a campaign issue" which favors Romney.
