Surgeon admits that F. Agosto was his client and sent him women
SANTO DOMINGO. Plastic surgeon Edgar Contreras revealed that the alleged Puerto Rican capo Jose David Figueroa Agosto was his patient, and that he performed plastic surgery on him. At the same time, Figueroa Agosto sent him women, including some from Miami for surgeries to improve their bodies.

Contreras seemed elusive, selective and fearful of citing names of the women which Figueroa Agosto sent him for modifications on those parts of the body that were not satisfactory for the patient.

As he testified as a Justice Department witness in the trial that continues for the persons who allegedly belong to the money laundering network of Figueroa Agosto which is being held in the First Collegiate Tribunal of the Penal Chamber of the Court of the First Instance of the National District, Contreras said that the relation between himself and Cristian, the name with which Figueroa Agosto identified himself, went on for ten years. He revealed that the alleged capo invited him to a birthday party in Casa de Campo where his wife Leavy Nin Batista, his daughter and other persons he did not identify were present.

The defense lawyer for Mary Pelaez, Jose Rafael Ariza, objected to the witness mentioning names of the persons on which he operated because it would be a violation of the Code of Ethics.

Upon being questioned regarding the women on which he performed plastic surgeries, he selective cited the names of Mary Pelaez Frappier, television personality Carolin Aquino and another woman he identified as Leticia.

He said that after performing some esthetic surgery on Pelaez, Figueroa Agosto called him on the phone to tell him that it had turned out quite pretty.

Likewise, he brought up the fact that the defendant (Pelaez) bought dollars from the alleged capo, with whom he had dealings after meeting him through another person that sent him for an operation.

The first witness to be interrogated in the trial was Braulio Almonte Otañez, who said that he saw Figueroa Agosto on six or seven occasions and that he did iron-work for him in apartments and houses.

The second witness, Pierre Paolo Bonarelli, testified that in 2007 he sold a lot in Casa de Campo to Figueroa Agosto for US$875,000.

He said that he was contacted by the Mario Guerrero Heredia law firm to close the negotiations on the deal.

Both sides established that the payment should be by checks. Mary Pelaez Frappier, according to the witness, made the initial payment of US$400,000 with the delivery of an envelope which had two checks.

In the meantime, Pierre Dardelet, the manager of the property management firm of L'Agence, the administrator of the condominiums of Ocean One, revealed that in the guest registration book there is a visit by Figueroa Agosto to the apartment 2221 on 9 November 2009, two months after he was a fugitive from the Dominican authorities. Figueroa Agosto escaped on 3 September. Likewise on a list it was established that he slept there one night. His business administer Ocean One where Mary Pelaez and Cristian Almonte are listed as owners of apartment 1132. He explained that the quarterly maintenance fees are in the names of both persons. Dardelet stated before the tribunal that he received information that Pelaez wanted to change the lock on the door at the end of 2009.

Carolyne Aquino makes a statement

The television hostess, Carolyne Aquino offered her explanation regarding the case. "In 2007 I was a candidate for Miss Dominican Republic, as many people know, that through the media they knew my start. I was looking for sponsorship for a surgery. Yes, it is true that I met this man (Cristian Almonte). He didn't look the same as he does now in the media" "At that time I knew him with the name of Cristian Almonte, as an architect, who sponsored the surgery of my breasts that Edgar Contreras performed in 2007".
