Martinez guarantees deputies will be prudent on issue of JCE
SD. The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Abel Martinez, guaranteed yesterday that in that chamber they would take on the investigation regarding the conflict among the members of the Plenary of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) with prudence, impartiality and resolve
On his Twitter account @AbelMartinezD_, he revealed that in today's session, scheduled for 3:00 p.m., the deputies will present proposals according to the law, the Regulations of the Chamber of Deputies and the Constitution.
"In the case o the JCE the @DeputadosRD will take on with prudence, impartiality and resolve, our responsibility, let there be no doubt," he said. The Senate will hear a proposal from Pared Perez tomorrow.
Support for the initiative
Deputies and senators support the proposal made last Sunday by the president of the Senate, Reinaldo Pared Perez, which suggests the creation of a joint commission to investigate in depth the "uneasiness in the JCE."
The majority of those interviewed believe that it is pertinent that the Congress intervene but they are not in agreement in that the problem deserves that some or all of the titular members of the JCE be summoned or that an impeachment hearing is justified.
In the case of Ruddy Gonzalez, the spokesman for the PRD bloc, he said that the backs the initiative because he feels that "shaking democracy" should not be permitted and that any decision should be taken "in time" before the next elections.
Gustavo Sanchez, the spokesman for the PLD bloc, said he believes that this is a "correct way out" of the problem and that if it is necessary they can present a proposal to hold an impeachment process for those that they feel committed "flagrant or improper faults."
In the meantime, Ramon Rogelio Genao, the spokesman for the PRSC bloc of deputies, said that the intervention of the Congress is not necessary due to dissident viewpoints in a collegiate agency and he warned regarding the intentions to change the balance of forces inside the JCE.
