Baret calls for support for Danilo on electricity issue

The conference will be taken to all of the provinces

SD. The president of the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel), Carlos Amarante Baret, called on the population yesterday to support President Danilo Medina in the search for a solution to the "eternal electricity problems," where the contracts he said are "letters of marque" supported by powerful interest groups.

"After Barrick we have to take on the electric problem, closing ranks behind President Mejia in this new battle for economic and social progress," he noted yesterday as he gave his conference entitled "Danilo, a year after the victory."

In the conference, Amarante Baret indicated that Medina is carrying out a "government that is ethical, transparent and close to the people," stressing the value that during this first year of the administration has given to education, the countryside and to the creation of jobs through the small business sector. "Danilo, with his new style of government, close to the people, can listen directly from the citizens, without having to go through the filter of us bureaucrats, the complaints, the demands and the lack of things," he said.

The activity, held at the Dominican Fiesta Hotel, was attended by dozens of PLD party rank and file, among them members of the Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party as well as senators and deputies that belong to the party.
