Chamber commission to meet with Plenary of JCE
SD. The special commission from the Chamber of Deputies which is charged with investigating the problems that have arisen between members of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) will meet next Monday at 10:00 in the morning with eh Plenary of the Board.
The chairman of this commission, Henry Meran, said that after this visit to the JCE headquarters, they would hold separate meeting with each of the titular members of the JCE.
He reported that these meeting form part of the strategic plan and of the calendar of work of the special commission.
"The idea is to have a meeting with the Plenary, and exchange of opinions, in order to later continue with the development of the plan which evidently includes a summons to each separate member of the Central Electoral Board," he revealed.
He said that later on the commission that he chairs will present a report to the full Chamber of Deputies.
In the meantime, the member of the special commission, Deputy Demostenes Martinez, said that beginning next Monday they would be in permanent session until the finish their work. He said that they would work as long as necessary and in a responsible manner to investigate the problems that arose inside the JCE.
"We appeal to the maturity of the members of the Central Electoral Board and hope that this does not have any greater consequences," he warned.
Upon being questioned as to whether he was referring to a summoning or an impeachment process, he answered: "Exactly, those are issues we want to exclude from the start, because we know the ability of these persons to reach an agreement, and that for such an important institution for the country, and one that has done such good work, it is a shame when its members are fighting in public and when they are not acting in a harmonious manner."
