Deputies meet today with Plenary of JCE

SANTO DOMINGO. This afternoon, the special commission from the Chamber of Deputies, created to investigate the internal conflicts of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) will meet for the first time with the members of this collegiate organization.

The meeting is set for 5:00 in the afternoon and will be held in the Political Party Hall at JCE headquarters. At first they had called the meeting for 10:00 in the morning. The change in the time was not explained.

According to a press note from the JCE, all of the members of the Plenary will take part in the meeting, including the president, Roberto Rosario.

The commission is chaired by Henry Meran and composed of Lupe Nuñez, Maria Mercedes Fernandez, Ramon Bueno, Juan Julio Campos, Cristian Paredes, Demostenes Martinez, Serverina Gil and Rene Polanco.

Last Friday, Meran explained in statements to the press that this first meeting will be to talk with all of the members of the JCE and later, each one will be invited to the Chamber of Deputies to have an individual conversation. He noted that the priority would be to resolve the difference in a conciliatory manner.

For several weeks the members of the JCE have had an internal conflict, with the epicenter being a list of 22.673 files of foreign citizens, the majority of whom are of Haitian origin, to whom the JCE has denied documentation.
