Nine tank trucks arrested with 90,000 gallons of fuels
SANTO DOMINGO. The Specialized Corps for Fuel Control (Ceccom), a part of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, halted on Tuesday nine tank trucks that were carrying more tan 90,000 gallons of fuel that entered the country as contraband.
The tank trucks were surprised in the port of Haina Oriental while they were getting ready to move the fuel, and they were taken to the headquarters of Ceccom where they were placed under investigation.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce immediately warned that his ministry would continue to act with firmness in the persecution of the movement of petroleum derivatives.
Jose Del Castillo Saviñon offered full guarantees that anyone that is caught doing this sort of illegal work will be arrested and sent to trial.
The Director of Communications at the Ministry explained that the tank trucks that were seized by Ceccom had the permits that would allow them to withdraw the oily bilge water from the ship STX Ace 11, they received information that the trucks were going to transport contraband fuels.
