Administrator of Rent-a-Car in Silvestre case dies
SANTO DOMINGO. The administrator of the car agency where the SUV used in the kidnapping and assassination of the journalist Jose Silvestre, last 2 August, died yesterday as he was transferred from the model penitentiary in San Pedro de Macoris to the Antonio Musa Hospital.

According to the penitentiary authorities, Antonio Rafael Fulgencio Land, the administrator of Avis Rent-a-Car in La Caleta, Boca Chica, was transferred to the medical center complaining of a strong stomach ache.

After the death of Fulgencio Land, who was in preventive custody for the crime against the journalist, an order was issued for the investigation of his death.

For the murder of the journalist, there are five persons in preventive custody, but the person who has been identified as the mastermind, Joaquin Espinal Almeyda (Daniel) and/or Matias Avelino Castro, is still a fugitive from justice.

A preliminary report from the National Institute of Forensic Science, established that there were no signs of violence, nor traces of blows. According to the report, Fulgencio Land presented gastric problems, he took some medicine and it produced stomach cramps.

The journalist Jose Silvestre was kidnapped and later on, murdered in an alleged revenge due to the fact that the reporter had accused Joaquin Espinal Almeyda, now a fugitive, in an article in the magazine "The Voice of the Truth" of being responsible for the assassination of several persons in La Romana.
