Leonel inaugurates the Community College today
The project and its equipment cost RD$1.8 billion

SD. The Community Superior Technical Institute, also called the Community College, will be inaugurated today by President Leonel Fernandez.
The ceremony for the delivery of the project, which was built by the Office of Supervising Engineers for State Projects (OISOE), is set for 5:00 in the afternoon in the La Colonia sector of San Luis.
Luis Sifres, the director of OISOE, said that the community colleges, whose construction was begun in 2005, will mark a dividing line in the educational process, since it will give the young people a technical degree of university level.
He explained that the projects represents an investment, including the equipment, of RD$1.8 billion, and will offer 21 different career courses. Among these courses are nursing, dental technician, automobile mechanic, electrician, electronics, hotel administration and others.
The campus has 13 building, distributed throughout the 65,513 square meters of the property. These building include the library, the classrooms, an amphitheater, and the administration building.
Sifres said that the Community College will be a state entity, but semi-autonomous, governed by a board of directors and a group of trustees, which will help to guarantee its sustainability.
30 billion in projects
Regarding the projects that the OISOE will deliver from now until 16 August , the official said that these amount to close to RD$30 billion all over the national geography.
Likewise, he said that between 8 and 13 August, they will inaugurate the administration building of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), which was suspended by the disturbances on the university campus which happened on last 20 July.
