Education proposes salary increases greater than 15% for teachers
SD. The Dominican Association of Professors (ADP) and the Ministry of Education (MINERD) seem to be close to an agreement on a salary increase for public school teachers, after a meeting between the representatives of both parts that was held yesterday.

The ADP president, Eduardo Hidalgo, said last night that the Council of the union will study the proposal presented yesterday by Minerd in which the previously offered 15% increase was upped.

Hidalgo, who is also a deputy in Congress, reported that today at 11:00 in the morning they will release their decision regarding this offer. "There is a change. They have varied the amount and we are debating. We have taken a recess until tomorrow at 11:00 in the morning, in order to know whether or not we accept," he said to the reporters and he refused to talk about the increase in the percentage of wage increase offered by Education for the salary increase.

The professors have demanded and 100% salary increase.

In the meeting, held at the Ministry of Education headquarters, the deputy ministers, Victor Sanchez, the director of the Office for Planning and Development; Minerva Vincent, the head of Technical and Pedagogical Affairs; Giselle Felix, head of Administration and Finance; the director general of Human Resources, Carmen Pujols and David Lapaix, the director of Budget Programming were all in attendance.

For the ADP the first vice president of the National Executive Committee, Victor Garcia, the secretary of Acts and Correspondence, Francisco Herrera and the secretary of Organization, Primitiva Medina were in attendance.
