The PRD will ask Danilo to modify Regulations

The PRD president said yesterday that they have "mistakes and contradictions"

SANTO DOMINGO. On Monday, the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) will send President Danilo Medina some observations and proposals for modification of the Regulations of Law 169-14, after considering that the regulations have "errors and contradiction" that should be corrected.

The PRD president, Miguel Vargas, pointed out yesterday that for reasons of ethics and respect he will not reveal the content of the letter, but he warned that they have kept a "firm and invariable defense of the national sovereignty in the face of pressure from international agencies."

He indicated that any solution to the problems of immigration should be presented on the basis of respect for the Constitution, the General Immigration Law 285-04, and the Ssentence 168-13 by the Constitutional Tribunal. The PRD commission that will carry the letter to the Presidential Palace will be composed of the legal director, Salim Ibarra, spokesman Victor Gomez Casanova, and jurist Jose Miguel Vasquez.

He recalled that he consulted with well known jurists regarding the regulations and he said that the letter addressed to the President includes copies for Jose Ramon Fadul, the Minister of Interior and Police; Roberto Rosario, the head of the Central Electoral Board; Jose Ricardo Taveras, the Director General of Immigration; Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez, and the Reverend Fidel Lorenzo, the president of the Dominican Council of Evangelical Unity.

In another event, a group of personalities will deposit today at 10:00 a.m. an appeal of unconstitutionality before the Constitutional Tribunal.
