Precarious conditions reported at Robert Reid Cabral hospital

A protest called for next Tuesday

SD. The deterioration of the anesthesia machines, ventilators and other surgical equipment, the lack of solar graphs, the lack of water, telephone service, leaks in the roofs, and the constant interruption of electricity are the precarious conditions which affect the Robert Reid Cabral Children's Hospital. The problems were denounced once again by the doctors of the hospital which make up the "SOS Robert Reid Cabral" committee and the President of the Dominican Medical College in the National District, Mery Fernandez, who said that the doctors are working under inhuman conditions and that the problems are getting worse, after the elimination of the recovery quota formerly charged and by the manner, allegedly irregular, in which the authorities of the Ministry of Public Health are delivering the subsidies, since they say that of the RD $7 million that they should receive, they are only given RD $4 million.

It has been four months since the doctors reported the precarious conditions in the children's hospital, which brought about the presence of the Vice President, Margarita Cedeño de Fernandez, and Minister of Health, Freddy Hidalgo Nuñez, who provided the money to pay the suppliers which on that occasion had stopped giving credit.

Doctor Martiza Lopez, the President of the committee, said that, except for the money that was paid to the suppliers and the purchase of some fans, they have received no other backing.
