The information was released yesterday by the Commanding General of the Army of the Dominican Republic, Major General José E. Matos de la Cruz, who added that the members of the Armed Forces have been patrolling for some time.

The director of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces and the Police explained that during the latest meetings they took safety measures that are now being implemented in cities such as San Cristobal, Santiago, and the barrios of the North Santo Domingo and the upper part of the National District.

Nevertheless, Matos de la Cruz did not reveal what these measures were, but he did say that all of them are directed to support the National Plan of Public Safety which was instituted by President Danilo Medina in April of last year.

He explained that there are members of each institution on the principle streets and avenues of the country in order to avoid that criminals commit crimes prejudicial to citizens and institutions of the country.
