Haiti might ask for extension of Normalization Plan deadline
SD. The Haitian Chancellor, Pierre Duly Brutus, said yesterday that his government might ask for an extension of the deadline for the National Plan of Normalization of Foreigners, for the purpose of resolving "the problems of regarding documentation."

After recognizing that they are "conscious of the fact that there have been problems" with the delivery of documents to their citizens, Brutus pointed out that "we are going to ask our Dominican counterparts for an extension of the deadline in order to be able to resolve the problems regarding the documentation."

The plan started last 2 June and will end on 31 May 2015. For several months, sugar cane workers of Haitian origin have been clamoring for the delivery of their passports.

They discuss agenda

They Haitian diplomat offered the statements as he answered questions after together with the Dominican Chancellor, Andres Navarro, they offered details regarding a meeting they held yesterday afternoon and in which, they said, they dealt with a wide agenda for strengthening bilateral relations.

During the press conference at the headquarters of the Dominican Chancellery, Navarro explained that they have appointed representatives of both countries to provide follow-up to the economic political and social capital agendas set forth by both countries.

The Haitian ambassador in the Dominican Republic, Fritz Cineas also took part in the meeting.
