A riot in Cotui jail leaves eight injured

COTUI. At least eight persons were injured by gunfire and knives as a result of a riot at the jail in thePalo Hincado Fort in Cotui, according to sources at the facility.
Among those injured were Alejandro Suarez, José Gregorio Martinez, Francisco Cabrera, José Francisco Hernandez, José Miguel Taveras, Jonathan Feliz and Mariano Antonio Encarnacion, who were all hospitalized at the Immaculate Conception Hospital In Cotui.
Likewise, the coordinator of the jail, Humberto Tejada was also wounded by a gunshot, and he received medical attention at a private clinic in the city.
Unofficially, it was reported that the riot started over the control of the jail by rival groups.
On the 27 February Avenue, where the jail is located, several units of the National Police, a representative of the Justice Department as well as dozens of curious people appeared on the scene.
