The Greek "No" undergoes the acid test today, Monday

At the opening of the financial markets all eyes will be looking at the euro and its behavior

FRANKFORT. After the referendum celebrated yesterday, in which the Greeks said "no" to the adjustment proposal of the international creditors, all eyes are turned now towards the euro and his behavior in the markets.

The final results indicate that 61.31% voted for the "No" in a rejection of the last financial offer by the European partners. The "Yes" received 38.69%. The European currency had waited with a surprising tranquility for the celebration of the consultation in Greece but this resistance is going to be newly submitted to the test as soon as the principal financial markets open on Monday.

The euro has been barely influenced by the last stage of the crisis in Greece, which intensified after the Greek government abandoned the talks with the creditors and decided to convene the referendum. The recent upturn of the Greek crisis has restrained many companies on the stock markets because of the ups and downs that it has caused in the market.

The euro was exchanged on Friday for US$1.1102 during the last hours of trading on the European money markets, against the US$1.1143 on 26 June. Just on Monday, 29 June, after the interruption of the negotiations between Greece and the European group, there was a notable depreciation of the euro.
