A Colonel and his son arrested for stash of 337.51 kg

In the operation, "Robelin", an alleged drug dealer, was arrested; he is a brother-in-law of Bienvenido Guevara (Maconi)
SANTO DOMINGO. An active duty colonel in the Air Force of the Dominican Republic (FA RD) and his son, were arrested along with a brother-in-law of Ernesto Bienvenido Guevara Diaz (Maconi) a confessed drug trafficker presently in jail in the United States and another seven defendants accused of trying to introduce into the country a stash of 337.51 kg grams of pure cocaine. The attempt to introduce the cocaine was carried out during the dawn hours of last Friday on the Barahona coast.
A source at the District Attorney's office in Barahona revealed that the case involves Colonel Andrés Francisco Reyes Ortíz and his son Francer Andrés Reyes Vargas, 19 años, Raymiel Alexander Aponte Bautista, the Venezuelan Eudis Méndez Díaz, Francisco Antonio Urbáez Suero (Robelín, Maconi's brother-in-law), Josué Mercedes de la Rosa, Arnaldo Joel Pérez Vargas, Pablo Santana Gómez, Confesor Pérez, and Eyuris Félix Santana. All are under arrest and being held pending the investigation regarding this stash of cocaine.
The operation was divided into two stages: in the first stage 238 packages ("bricks") were seized, once the group carried out the transfer on the high seas, and the second, on land, of 100 packages that were to be transported in a Ford F-150 pickup truck being driven by "Robelin", Confesor and Santana Gómez. The two operations totaled 337.51 kg of cocaine, according to the report by the Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif).
A white Ford Expedition, license plate G259087, and a black Ford F-150, license plate L311715 were seized along with several firearms.
The District Attorney of Barahona participated in both operations
The authorities of the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), reported that they are quantifying the assets of "Robelin," listed as one of the most economically powerful men in the South area of the country. The Prosecutor's office of Barahona, the entity which participated in both operations, began to locate the assets of "Robelin," consisting of farms, financial offices, luxurious residencies, among others, valued in hundreds of millions of pesos.
The operation was launched by the DNCD and the DEA and was called "Operation Scorpion." The operation used different equipment for the interdiction which was carried out by land, sea and air. "It was an operation against drug traffickers who concentrate on transporting from South America, large shipments of drugs to our country on board fast launches, in order to try to send them to the United States and Europe, using the South region of the country."

The shipment was divided into two parts, the first part seized was 238 packages and later, in the Ford F-150 pickup truck, they seized 100 packages for a total of 328 packages, which totaled a weight of 337.51 kg of pure cocaine, according to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif). The group is under arrest in Barahona and it is expected that a hearing will be held shortly on coercive measures.
