Cartoon Network Races entertain children and adults
SANTO DOMINGO. A sunny morning, lots of energy and fun. Parents, children and complete families enjoyed yesterday the Cartoon Network Races which were held from the early hours in the Mirador del Sur Park in the capital and which saw the participation of 1,500 pairs of runners and over 3,000 persons.
The races were structured according to age categories, with the bigger children and adolescents running first, in stages with warm ups encouraged with music. Everything ended a little after eleven in the morning with the last race, and then all the winners were announced.
This is the first time that the characters from the Cartoon Network have visited the Dominican Republic for these races which began on Saturday 4 May with the distribution of the kits and ended yesterday with the sporting event.
Yanira Puy, the marketing manager for Cartoon Network, thanked the participants in the activity for the company, and she appreciated the acceptance of the event by so many people.
"This was evidenced by the fact that the groups were filled up within two weeks after opening the inscriptions," she stressed.
The competition has been held in other Latin American countries such as Mexico, Colombia and Peru. And regarding this, the marketing manager for the company said that the multinational company had planned to come to the Dominican Republic for some time in order to hold the event. In addition, she underlined the favorable climate for carrying out this type of sports activities.
The children and adolescents competed, according to their categories, together with one of the characters and their relatives.
According to the press clippings, the activity belongs to the Cartoon movement, a program of social responsibility which also includes an effort to strengthen issues such as the importance for the children to have a health live and lots of physical activity.
The event included the support of ARS Humana and their program of social responsibility, "I Give from the Heart", which footed the bill for the first three places of each group in the four categories of the competition.

The management of the channel in Latin America is the responsibility of Turner Broadcasting System.
