Cesar Media to be PRD candidate in San Cristobal
SANTO DOMINGO. The Dominican ambassador in Sapin and television journalist Cesar Medina, is currently in conversations with the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) in order to seal his agreement with the party for the candidacy for the senatorial seat for San Cristobal, according to the PRD vice president for organization, Rafael Diaz Filpo.

Filpo said that in the next few days there will be new meetings with the newspaperman and television commentator, but he did not say when.

"There are conversations going on with our companion Cesar Medina and in the next few days the party president, the companion Miguel Vargas Maldonado will announce the results of the conversations that he has had with Medina, "said Diaz Filpo.

The PRD leader said that he was in agreement with the communicator becoming a candidate for senator because it would give prestige to the ticket of any party.

He made a point of the fact that there have been several meetings trying to seal up the agreement but "it is also good to make it clear that the party president has the last word."

When he was asked about this over the phone, Medina limited his comments to saying: "I can't address anything about this. I am leaving for Spain to assume my post as ambassador and this is the only thing that I can say." Yesterday morning there were rumors that said that Medina had been substituted in his functions. They also said that he had asked President Fernandez for the candidacy for San Cristobal.
