COE starts operation for Altagracia Day holiday
SD. The Center for Emergency Operations (COE) begins today, Friday, at noon the Virgin of High Grace (Altagracia) 2012 operation, because of the great multitude of people that will travel to the Basilica of Higuey for the celebrations commemorating the day dedicated to the Protector of the Dominican people.

More than four thousand persons will be involved in prevention, divided into two sections, one for Highway Safety and the other for Pre-hospital, according to the COE. The program will end on Saturday at 8:30 at night.

The COE says that the group working highway safety will be installed in 60 roadside emergency aid stations on the highways and freeways in the East and another 12 along the Duarte Highway and the 6 of November Highway. Also there will be 30 ambulance units distributed at critical points and a helicopter which will cover the area of the East in order to attend an special situation that develops.

The COE has indicated that within the perimeter of the Basilica of Higuey, there will be an aid station which will consist of a command post for coordination and taking decisions as well as two medical consult areas and 2 campaign hospitals and one center for people that get lost.

The operation will be coordinated, besides by the COE, with other institutions, among them the Ministry of the Presidency, of Public Health, of the Armed Forces, of Public Works and the Presidential Press Office, the National Police and OMSA among other entities.
