District Attorney accuses 28 of assaulting bus stop
The group was arrested and taken to the jail at the Palace of Justice
SD. The District Attorney of the National District requested coercive measures against 28 persons accused of assaulting and sacking a passenger bus station of La Altagracia, located in front of Enriquillo Park, where supposedly there was some RD$700,915, a firearm taken and the locale was occupied.
The Office of Permanent Attention was empowered of the request for one year of preventive custody against Leonte Torres Jiménez, Guillermo Pillier, Domingo Arturo Rijo, Santos Nivar Guillén, Jonathan Ramírez, Luis Ventura, Miguel Vásquez, Rafael Emilio Franjul, Nelson Rafael Reyes, Ciro Cedeño Brito and Víctor Manuel Castillo Pimentel.
Likewise, she requested a bail bond of RD$100,000 in cash from each person, the periodic presentation and travel restrictions against Junior Argenis García, Francisco Brito Martínez, Rodeibi Herrera Fermín, Julio Ernesto Valentín, Carlos Guerrero, José Antonio Olivo Bratini, Ramón Alberto Brito Hernández, Santo Almonte, Pedro Ortega Jiménez, Andrés Antonio Amarante, Amado Cuello Domínguez, Ángel Emilio Santana, Fernando Brito Martínez, Máximo Pillier, Henry Pérez Maríñez, Nelson Derinil and Carlitos Zapata.
Prosecutors Dante Castillo and Cesarina Hernandez said that supposedly they constituted a criminal association, and were arrested in "flagrante delicto" when they sequestered the bus stop for Higüey, armed with knives, machetes and slingshots on Tuesday at 5:30 a.m.
Likewise the charges say that they disarmed the watchman Manolo Encarnacion, managed to ransack the place where allegedly they took RD$700,915, broke windows in the office and on mini-buses.
The District Attorney indicated that ten defendants, who were identified by Yuni Castro Montillo, were the alleged heads of the organization of the taking of the bus terminal belonging to the owners of the buses that travel the route between Higüey and Santo Domingo.
She said that at the moment of being arrested Domingo Antonio Rijo was found to have the shotgun taken from the watchman.

The prosecutors said that Ciro Cedeño Brito and Pedro Ortega were found with 24 inch machetes and Francisco Pion Nolasco had one of 15 inches when the gang took over the terminal.
This last person also took a cell phone from Julian Cayetano Soto so that he could not communicate during the action.
In a like manner, they said that one part of the defendants was taped in space and time when they entered and left the place where they allegedly took the money.
