District Attorney reveals charges against Jochy Gomez
He woke up for his second day under detention at the Palace of Justice jail

SANTO DOMINGO. The District Attorney for the National District said that Jose Angel Gomez Canaan (Jochy), according to intelligence sources, supposedly was involved in extortion and blackmail of third parties through the use of electronic means, as well as in spying on well-known personalities.
She said that on 10 January, the Justice Department requested by means of Official Note 016-1-2012 the SMS messages from the telephone number 829 540 9000 which the son of journalist Guillermo Gomez allegedly used. The Justice Department received an answer that the same day allowed them to see the conversations in which there were offers of spying on mobile phones as well as the alleged request by Gomez Canaan to hack into an e-mail account.
"These SMS messages were copied in part, and there is a conversation in English, which translated in to Spanish indicates what was previously said."
According to the District Attorney, in that conversation they were able to note that the person under investigation requested a person named Rajat, presumably an Indian national, at the telephone number 919810112091, for help in hijacking the e-mail account. The phone number is in India.
According to what was said, from his home, Gomez Canaan allegedly carried out the interference and sending of e-mails based on identity theft and illegal access.
He was arrested on Monday and taken to the Palace of Justice in Ciudad Nueva. The arrest came after a search carried out in his father's house located in Los Cacicazgos at around 6:15 p.m.
He has been detained on two previous occasions, the last being on 20 May of this year.
According to Guillermo Gomez, during the search they were looking for technological apparatus, but no equipment was seized. He called the episode, as in other occasions, action by the authorities of political persecution against himself because of his position of opposition to the current administration.
