DR and Haitian chancellors will deal with a common agenda at Bilateral Commission today

Today, Chancellor Andres Navarro and his Haitian counterpart, Pierre Duly Brutus, will head a meeting of the Mixed Bilateral Commission that will deal with issues related to the strengthening of diplomatic relations and the development of the neighboring countries; issues such as security, immigration, agriculture, and investments, among other issues.

According to a press communiqué, the meeting is programmed to start at 11:00 in the morning at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Foreign Relations, with the presence of two ample delegations of Dominicans and Haitians who will provide follow-up to the recent agreements reached in the last meeting held in the town of Jimani, last 13 March, as well as the recommendations of the VI Meeting of the Mixed Bilateral Commission in the city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Taking part in the meeting will be ministers of the Haitian government, the Secretary of State, director generals of different public institutions and the Charge d'Affaires of the neighboring country accredited in the Dominican Republic, Magalie Magloire.

There is also programmed a bilateral meeting between the ministries of agriculture of the two countries headed by Angel Estevez and M. Fresner Dorcin, and in addition, the signing of a frontier security agreement between the ministers of defense, Lieutenant general William Muñoz Delgado and M. Lener Renauld.

The Chancellery reported that chancellors Navarro and Brutus there will hold an extensive working session in which they will cover different initiatives in the areas of freight as well as passenger transportation, justice and other issues.

Taking part in the meeting as observers, are the representatives of different international agencies, such as the European Union, the United Nations Development Program and the International Agency for Development (AID).
