Fire kills three children in Villa Mella
Four families affected by the fire ask authorities for assistance

NORTH SANTO DOMINGO. Three little children, including a baby girl just three months old died in a fire last night which also destroyed four houses in the Villa Marina sector of Villa Mella.
The victims were identified as Jhonatan, Marielys and Gabriel Mateo, 2, 3 months, and 2 years old respectively.
According to the reports of neighbors, the fire was caused by a candle that the mother had left lit in the humble shack of wood and tin roof, when she went to the corner store. Upon her return the flames had already taken the lives of her three children.
The mother, Orquidea Brazoban, was taken to the Emergency Room of a nearby health facility in a state of shock caused by the tragedy.
The quartermaster general of the North Santo Domingo Fire Department, Colonel Inocencio Estevez Adames, reported that when the two units arrived at the scene, the fire had already consumed four houses located on La Gioconda Street, near the Hermanas Mirabal Avenue in the barrio of Villa Maria.
In addition, Eddy Navarro, the medical director for the Fire Department, said that a woman and a young man, both unidentified, were taken to the Burn Unit of the Luis Eduardo
Aybar Hospital with first degree burns.
