Government to distribute RD$150 million in toys
SD. The government will deliver toys to some 360,000 poor kids all over the country during the Three Kings Day celebrations (Thursday), having spent an investment of RD$150 million.

For the festivities, the authorities have already begun to send the provincial governors the merchandise to be distributed to the children.

The information was offered by the head of the Presidential Social Plan, Emigdio Sosa, who indicated that, moreover, the delivery of the toys will be done in the offices that the Social Plan has in the different towns around the country.

"Now, by tradition, President Leonel Fernandez ordered a social activity to benefit the poor children with the delivery of toys and for this we have located some 360,000 children", the official said.

Sosa made it clear that President Fernandez will not take part in the delivery of the toys.

He said that the children will receive dolls, bicycles, balls, toy kitchens, and other toys, but there will be no toy guns for the children.

Interviewed by Diario Libre, Sosa added that in the handling of the deliveries there will be churches and other non-profit organizations involved as a way to avoid speculation.

The director of the Social Plan said that the delivery of toys carried out every year by the First Lady Margarita Cedeño de Fernandez is different from the one that he is doing.
