JCE will provide a unique identification number to students
SANTO DOMINGO. The Central Electoral Board (JCE) reported that it would petition the Ministry of Education the development of the project of providing ID cards with unique identification numbers for all of the students in the country. This number would later be the same as the "cédula" and voter registration number, and other personal documents.

The information was provided during the opening yesterday of the program of "Educational Visits" in which the students of the different schools in the country will have the opportunity of learning the history and the operational movement of the Central Electoral Board.

A communiqué from the JCE says that some 300 students from such schools as Politécnico Madre Ybarra Pomarai, Politécnico Cardenal Sancha, Politécnico Pilar Constanzo, the Instituto Técnico Salesiano ITESA and the De La Salle School, were the first invitees for the opening of the "Educational Visits" and they will be held every Thrusday.

During the activity, the president of the JCE, Roberto Rosario, reiterated that the process of providing national cédulas will begin in the country starting in the first fortnight of next April, which is at the end of the first quarter, just as had been announced.
