Jose Tomas Perez: "Like it or not there will be a second round"
He is not worried that members of the CP and re-electionists support Danilo

SANTO DOMINGO.- The nomination hopeful for the Dominican Liberation Party, Jose Tomas Perez, is sure that for the first time in this party there will be a second round of voting during the nomination process, whether the followers of Danilo who think they are winners "like it or not".
The former senator from the National District said that the same as the group that supports Medina, he knows that there will be a second round of voting, there are some officials that have exceeded their positions, and several legislators who have begun to seek support "desperately" by using the name of President Leonel Fernandez to try and make people believe that he supports that aspiring presidential candidate.
"There will be a second round here, like it or not those that are going around with that triumphal air", he stressed. He believes that the Medina team is harming their candidate, and they will have to reevaluate their strategy and he suggested to them to stop their positivism because when they lose they are not going to want to accept the reality.
He thought that the interest shown by the President to remain neutral in the framework of the process and to forbid the use of his name to promote a candidate is very healthy.
He said he was confident that what will determine victory in the primaries are the PLD rank and file, and he reminded reporters that when he was a candidate to the post of party secretary general only three persons did not support his opponent and his victory was a "surprise". Because of this the re-electionists and the members of the Political Committee that support Medina do not worry him.
"This is to say, this does not worry me in the least because if I was not worried in the past, I am less worried now. The only worrisome element would have been that the President would get involved in this, and this is not going to happen because the President is a coherent person who is watching out so the party remains united". He said that according to the polls that he has, Medina has an acceptance of between 35% and 40%, so that he will not achieve 50% plus one vote.
Regarding the Front of Precandidates (Nomination hopefuls) he reiterated that he and his people have had permanent conversations with the other three possible candidates although he could not say that they had forged an alliance.
